How to Set a Strong WiFi Password

Your WiFi password protects every device on your network. A weak one lets neighbours — or attackers parked outside — onto your network. For a router password we recommend at least 20 characters with numbers and a couple of symbols.

Because WiFi passwords are often typed by hand into phones and smart-TVs, this generator excludes ambiguous characters (0/O, 1/l/I) by default so they're easier to enter without mistakes.

    WPA2 vs WPA3

Always use WPA3 encryption if your router supports it, or WPA2 (AES) as a fallback. Avoid the older WEP and WPA standards — they can be cracked in minutes regardless of how strong your password is.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good WiFi password length?

Aim for at least 20 characters. WiFi passwords are only typed once per device, so length costs you nothing and makes brute-force attacks practically impossible.

Should my WiFi password contain symbols?

A few symbols add strength, but length matters most. This page includes a couple of symbols by default while excluding confusing characters so the password is still easy to type.

Is it safe to generate a WiFi password online?

Yes — EasyPass4U generates everything locally in your browser. The password is never sent over the internet, logged, or stored anywhere.

How do I change my router's WiFi password?

Log in to your router's admin page (often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1), open the wireless settings, paste your new password, and save. You'll need to reconnect your devices afterward.
